Wonderment is essential to a joyful life. Wonderment comes naturally to children. Everything is fresh, magical, hopeful and new. I rediscover wonderment every time I practice yoga. I also love just being goofy. Children are a wonderful reason and catalyst for making silly faces, singing silly songs and just plain yukking it up!

I began working with children at 16 as a summer school teacher’s aide for deaf preschoolers. I still fondly remember those tiny flying fingers. I learned more from the children than I ever taught with signed stories and songs. My path continued as a Kindergarten teacher’s aide, preschool teacher, day/summer camps and most recently as a Girl Scout leader for 9 uniquely wonderful girls aged 6-11. The most rewarding and educational experience, however, has been parenting my own vivacious young daughter. I began practicing yoga in 2002 with Betsy Cozart at Body Elements, Downtown Yoga and most recently Be Well. I have a home practice for myself as well as with my daughter.

I enjoy gardening, hiking, reading, playing at Disneyland and knitting. I am honored for the opportunity to share yoga, wonderment and being silly with children on and off the mat.

"Purna" means whole. Purna Yoga focuses on a holistic approach to healing. Asana practice, learning the poses, is only the beginning. Meditation, nutrition and continued self-awareness are the tools we use to achieve greater understanding of our internal workings. Ask yourself not where have I been but what do I wish to become? True change evolves from the intention we set within ourselves.

A perpetual student, Deb practices Yoga everyday off the mat, as a single mother of three boys. She traded in her options trading badge 15 years ago to focus on teaching full time. Deb has a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and enjoys Art, Gardening, and Poetry. Deb teaches both publicly and privately in the Bay Area.

Let the beauty we love, be what we do. –Rumi
